The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) has petitioned Parliament demanding a review of the country’s laws governing asylum seekers saying in the current form, the law is discriminatory.
CDEDI executive director Sylvester Namiwa disclosed this yesterday.
Namiwa cites an example of the latest refugee relocation order by government, saying it only targets selected countries.
He further says government needs to respect refugees’ Human rights.
But Minister of Information and government spokesperson Gospel Kazako says the law is clear that refugees and asylum seekers should be at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa.
