Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has allowed Stuart Kalungama, who is being accused of defiling his step daughter -to find legal representation.

Kalungama is accused of defiling his nine year old step daughter for over a year.

The Court has since given Kalungama seven days to hire a new lawyer -after the one who was representing him dropped the case.

On her part, Emmaculate Maluza, President for Women Lawyers Association -who is also representing the state in the case said the state will wait for the seven days –saying every accused person has a right to be represented.

Malawi has of late experience a sharp rise in defilement case forcing some quarters of the social to call for stiffer punishment.

Others have gone further in calling for castration of all rapists in the country.
