The Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) has implemented a project that seeks to increase access to clean water in the capital city and surrounding areas.
The Water and Sanitation (WASH) project is being funded by the World Bank to the tune of $100 million.
About $25 million has been allocated for sanitation activities with the rest going towards water supply.
An extra $2 million was sourced from the Malawi Government and will be used as compensation for people affected by the project.
LWB’s Assistant Public Relations Officer Maurice Nkawihe has confirmed the development.
Kawihe said that 5 thousand people are expected to benefit from the project.
