Sub-Traditional Authority (ST/A) Maoni of Chiradzulu District has died at the age of 61 after battling with diabetes and hypertension.
Ministry of Local Government Spokesperson Anjoya Mwanza confirmed the death on Monday, saying the chief died on Sunday June 13, 2021 at Kachere Rehabilitation Centre in Blantyre after battling with the two ailments (hypertension and diabetes).
“Sub Traditional Authority Maoni was born at Innocent Robin Jamu on August 15, 1960 and served as group Village Head Maoni before being elevated to Sub Traditional Authority Maoni in 2003,” said Mwanza.
Maoni is survived by a wife, five children and nine grandchildren.
He will be buried on Tuesday at his headquarters in Chiradzulu District.
