It’s that time of the year when secondary schools students across the region are graduating as they prepare to move on to their next phase in life.

However, with many islands still under curfew or some type of restrictions due to the COVID-19 virus, graduation celebrations won’t be the same.

With grad parties, limes and get-togethers curtailed, families are looking for ways to mark this special milestone.

Here are five ideas you can consider.

A virtual grad party

Zoom, Microsoft Teams and similar platforms aren’t just for formal meetings. Use these platforms to gather your kid’s classmates or close friends and family and have a joyful grad party online.  Have graduation-themed decorations, do speeches and show pictures or videos of their time at school.

A private family party

Throw a party at home for just your family to celebrate. Bake or buy a special grad-themed cake, decorate the house, create a home-made diploma and pop some non-alcoholic drinks to toast your child’s achievement.

Dedicate a day

In honour of the graduate, dedicate a day entirely to them. Make their favourite breakfast, lunch and dinner complete with desserts, put on their favourite movie, play their favourite games and present them with gifts that could include a digital or physical album of photos from their years in school.

Order a Graduation box

There are many people on social media offering gift box and basket services. Order a customise graduation box filled with all the goodies your child would love.

Stage a Graduation Photoshoot

There aren’t any parties to attend but you can mark your child’s graduation with a photoshoot in a fancy outfit or their school uniform.
