Center for Democracy Economic and Development Initiative (CDEDI) has said will hold peaceful demonstrations on Thursday in solidarity with Mulanje and Thyolo people over land.
CDEDI is addressing the media this morning in Blantyre.
According to CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa they are fighting against what they call oppression by state owners on the communities, hence in solidarity with ‘landless people.’
Namiwa also claims that state owners and police are mistreating communities of the two districts for claiming their land grabbed by the estate owners.
According to Namiwa, some of the people have been arrested and some beaten for coming forward and claim their land hence the move to hold the peaceful demonstrations.
