People of Moto Village in Mangochi have forgiven the Malawi Congress Party for the atrocities that happened decades ago (1971) during one-party rule.
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has visited Mpundi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Namavi and Moto Village in the area of Senior Chief Chowe on a reconciliation mission.
Speaking at Mpundi Village Dr Chakwera said it’s time to heal the wounds that people suffered during the one-party rule.
The President said his Government will develop the Mangochi-Malindi area with amenities such as road infrastructure and hospitals and has since indicated that the area of Lungwena will have a new community day secondary school named after the late John Kawajika.
Speaking on behalf of Group Village Headman Moto, Sheikh Hussein Akimu said the coming of Dr Chakwera is an indication that the new Malawi Congress Party has come to serve Malawians and reconcile the people.
