Newly confirmed Director General for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) George Kasakula has challenged staff of the state owned broadcaster to desist from politics and work hard.
Kasakula was speaking on Monday in Lilongwe during a tour to appreciate the Corporation’s establishments.
The tour was also aimed at sharing notes on how best MBC can restore the image of the Corporation through improved output.
According to Kasakula, there is a need for the staff to divorce gossip, politics and work hard for the Corporation to effectively deliver on its mandate.
Kasakula stressed that what MBC delivered in the past is not what people wanted, there is a need for change.
“I have a soft spot for hard work. Stop politicking. Stop gossiping and work hard. If you can’t perform, please resign,” he added.
The meeting in Lilongwe is the second with MBC members of staff after a similar one in Blantyre since he assumed office a few weeks ago.
