UN Women is working hand in hand with Judiciary, Malawi Law Society, Ministries of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare as well as Health in the  campaign.

Some of the child and women related laws being discussed are Child Labour,  Trafficking in Persons, Deceased Estate and Inheritance as well as Early Childhood Development Policy.

The project comes as a result of an assessment that was conducted last year

by the Ministry of Gender on the impact of COVID-19 in relation to child marriages and teenage pregnancies through out the country.

The data from that assessment revealed that Mangochi especially the area of Traditional Authority Bwananyambi is one of the districts with high teenage pregnancies and child marriages hence the sensitization meetings.

The project is being funded by the Iceland Government.

UN Women is a United Nations entity, for gender equality, and the empowerment.
