President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has returned from Mozambique where he attended the extraordinary SADC summit of Heads of State and Governments.
Addressing the press upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA), Chakwera assured Malawians that he has travelled well and safely from Maputo.
Chakwera indicated that Malawi has a great opportunity in the forthcoming chairmanship of the SADC.
He added that Malawi will be able to benefit in making policy decisions for the bloc that will also affect it directly, in trade, development and regional integration.
Before Chakwera’s address Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Minister Eisenhower Mkaka read a communiqué’ by the SADC summit.
Reading the communiqué’, indicates that the southern Africa leaders, are calling for intellectual property rights to allow some countries produce COVID-19 vaccines on the continent.
Mkaka further discloses through the communique’, that the leaders have asked the World Trade Organisation to help facilitate the production of Covid vaccines by African nations to ensure equal access.
