The National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) board has pledged to recover K611 million that its management misappropriated in the recent past.
The development follows the firing of Chief Executive Officer, Nasinuku Saukira, and Director of Finance, Peter Salamba, on Wednesday, June 23, over the subject and other maladministration issues.
Saukira and Salamba are being accused of diverting the funds from their intended purpose of procuring maize for strategic storage.
The two are suspected to have also been found in the wrong for funding political party activities in the ousted Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regime.
