Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested three people for allegedly running a bogus organization with intent to dupe people by promising them various charity services that would uplift their lives.
Jenda police spokesperson Martha Msamali confirmed the arrest in an interview with the press.
Msamali identified the three as Linda Gondwe aged 39, Amin Mwamlima aged 50 and Queen Moyo aged 34 who were running an organization named ‘United Mission foundation’ which has no documentation and is not registered with the council.
The three are said to have registered 600 people around Champhira who were being told to pay a fee of K1000 if they are to be assisted.
The three have been charged with the offence of conspiracy to fraud which is contrary to section 323 of the penal code.
