The Cannabis Regulatory Authority has warned that  any person who cultivates, stores, distributes and uses cannabis in contravention of the act will be liable to a fine of K50 million and imprisonment for 25 years.
This follows  under the Cannabis Regulatory Act.
The authority is engaging companies, cooperatives and individuals in the Central Region that received cultivation licenses to discuss issues surrounding the cannabis industry.
The industrial cannabis production license costs  is at K2 million.
This follows after government has legalized the cultivation of cannabis as the country seeks an alternative to tobacco as its main earner of foreign exchange which is under pressure from anti-smoking campaigns.
However Malawi  is said to be  become the latest country in southern African to relax laws against growing and selling cannabis, making it legal for use in the production of medicines and hemp fibers used in industry.
