Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to fire Minister of Information Gospel Kazako and Deputy Transport Minister Nancy Chaola Mdooko for approving a foreign trip of boards of Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).

The board members of Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) flew to Dubai for a capacity building training.

The trip saw money amounting to Mk40 million being spent on allowances and the likes.

The revelation angered President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who later fired the whole board of MACRA over the extravagance.

Speaking in an interview with the press CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa said the extravagancy at MACRA is regrettable hence demands for the firing of Kazako and Deputy Transport Minister Nancy Chaola Mdooko.

Namiwa further wants President Lazarus Chakwera to dissolve MACRA, NOCMA, Roads Authority and EGENCO; arguing Malawians cannot entertain selective justice.

State House has not commented on the demands but on Friday Chakwera spoke strongly against MACRA extravagance.

CDEDI has threatened mass protest if no action is taken within “reasonable” space of time.
