A 49 year old Man is in police custody for allegedly found in possession of medical drugs without supporting documents in Chikwawa.
The suspect has been identified as Layeni Genti who comes from Pende Village Traditional Authority (T/A) kaisi in the district.
Chikwawa Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Dickson Matemba, confirmed the arrest of Genti.
Matemba said that Genti was arrested on Tuesday at Dyeratu Trading Centre after the law enforcers were tipped off that the suspect was travelling with the drugs in a minibus.
Police seized 675 Amoxicillin capsules, 340 Bactrim tablets, 200 tablets of Panado, 60 Declofenac tablets, 1 bottle of Jentamecin, 45 Abendazol tablets, 24 tablets of anti-malaria tablets and 19 malaria tests kits.
“The suspect was arrested immediately and the drugs were seized,” said Matemba.
He also added that the police are investigating the matter to establish the source of the drugs.
Genti is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of being found in possession of medical drugs without supporting documents.
