Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) will announce official results for Tuesday’s by-elections today from 4pm, faceofmalawi can reveal.

MEC held by-elections in Lalanje Ward in Nsanje, Chikwembere Ward in Blantyre and Nkhata-Bay Central Constituency.

According to unofficial results, from 29 polling centres in Nkhata-Bay central Constituency it shows that Symon Vuwa Kaunda of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has won the polls with 5,439 votes against Raphael Mhone who has amassed 5, 223 votes.

In Lalanje Ward, unofficial results shows that Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Abdulhackeem Hassan has won the Local Government by-election
Hassan has amassed 3448 votes followed by Democratic Progressive Party Candidate Gerald Paul who got 2756.

Two other candidates, Henry Bedford Seda and Fraction Lapozo both independent got 599 votes and 51 votes respectively.

While in Chikwembere ward, DPP candidate by the name of Frosie Elizabeth Hela, is leading with 1681 votes seconded by United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Jacks Nkhoma with 658 votes.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate Wyson Makungwa is coming third with 565 votes and UTM Party’s Nelson Kalumbi is in fourth with 445 votes.
