A Kenyan basketball player, Keegan Oyugi, who went missing in Minnesota over two weeks ago has been found dead in a single-vehicle crash.

Police say they have identified the vehicle as belonging to the 26-year-old, who had disappeared on June 12. Inside the car was a deceased man who matched Oyugi’s description and clothing.

The vehicle was upside down and apparently hit a tree.

Oyugi last had contact with family or friends around 4a.m. June 12. He was going back to his home in St. Bonifacius after leaving the Prior Lake/Savage area, according to the Minnetrista Public Safety Department.

American outlet KSTP said the Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash scene, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will formally identify the victim in the coming days.

Oyugi, a former Kenya Ports Authority star, played basketball for Crown College from 2017 and was planning to play professionally in his home country Kenya later this year.
