Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa has congratulated Symon Vuwa Kaunda for winning Nkhata Bay Central Constituency.

Yesterday, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC)held elections in Nkhata Bay Central Constituency following Supreme Court’s decision to nullify the polls after Mhone filed a complaint question the legibility of Kaunda’s election.

In a statement seen by Faceofmalawi reporter Nankhumwa said that it is exciting that DPP, through Kaunda managed to beat a combination of nine parties under Tonse Alliance who were rallying behind a Peoples Party candidate Ralph Mhone.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Honorable Vuwa Kaunda for winning the Nkhata Bay Central parliamentary by-election, which took place on Tuesday, June 29, 2021,” Nankhumwa said.

He added; “What is more exciting for me is that our Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) parliamentary candidate reclaimed his seat against a combination of nine (9) political parties.”

Nankhumwa who is also the leader of Opposition in the August House hailed community members of Nkhata Bay Central Constituency for electing a leader of their choice without being intimidate by any political party.

“Now that the people of Nkhata Bay Central have spoken, boldly, it is my humble appeal to Honorable Vuwa Kaunda to reciprocate this gesture by serving his constituents, the Democratic Progressive Party, and the entire nation with integrity, selfless dedication and patriotism,” Nankhumwa said.

He further added that he cannot wait to work with Vuwa Kaunda once he returns Parliament to serve the people of Nkhata Bay Central Constituency.
