Parliament has extended the seven weeks long National Budget Meeting by one week.
First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Madalitso Kazombo, has announced this at the start of deliberations this afternoon at the National Assembly in Lilongwe.
He said the extension, with consent from President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, is to allow the Legislators to deliberate on several outstanding bills.
The development means the House will now conclude the budget meeting next week Friday, July 9.
He has since pointed out that the August House, will continue to conduct its deliberations with strict adherence to COVID-19 prevention protocols.
