In South Africa, a 21-year-old student from Limpopo was seriously injured after she was kidnapped, raped, and assaulted with a sharp object on Sunday.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, police spokesperson said the young student was in her rented room at Makwarela Location, Thohoyandou, when someone believed to be her ex-boyfriend allegedly arrived with his friend.
“The two men allegedly forced the woman into the boot of their motor vehicle before they left the area.”
Mojapelo said the men allegedly drove to Mphaila village (Siloam Policing Area) and stopped in the bushes where one of the suspects allegedly raped her.
“They then started chopping her with a sharp object until she lost consciousness. Thinking that the victim was dead, they then carried her and attempted to dump her in the bushes.”
Mojapelo said a community member saw the two men carrying a seemingly unconscious student and he alerted other members of the community.
“The community immediately caught one of them and beat him up.”
According to Mojapelo the other suspect managed to escape and is still on the run.
“The police arrived and arrested the injured suspect. He was admitted to the hospital and is under police guard.
He added that the seriously injured student was rushed to a nearby hospital.
