Former President and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika has called off a press briefing that was scheduled for today 30th June 2021 from 2 pm at his retirement home in Mangochi.
Mutharika has postponed the presser without giving reasons, FaceofMalawi has established.
Meanwhile, unofficial reports making rounds have indicated that Mutharika wanted to speak on what he renders unlawful arrest of Dalitso Kabambe the former reserve bank governor who is also eyeing DPP presidential seat.
Since leaving officer after losing last year, 23 June fresh presidential election, Mutharika has not commented on most of the arrests made to his party top officials.
It is reported that Mutharika is furious with the arrest of Dalitso Kabambe.
Kabambe and three other Central Bank officials were arrested in connection to the K4.3 billion transfer to an account held at FDH Bank which was made the night before the results of the 2020 Fresh Presidential Elections were announced.
Kabambe has shown interest in several occasions to replace Mutharika in running the affairs of DPP, despite Mutharika distancing himself from such rumours.
