FDH Bank has pumped in money amounting to K360 million to the Malawi National Football Team, the flames as they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to be held in Cameroon.
Speaking at the press briefing in Blantyre, FDH Bank Deputy Managing Director George Chitera said the idea is about social impact to the flames so that they become a winning team.
He said they take FAM as one of their partners when they move in everything saying that their values are similar that is why they came in to help the flames when they qualified for the Afcon.
“We need to grow together with FAM and so far we are happy and satisfied with the way funds are used,” he said.
Also speaking at the press briefing FAM President Walter Nyamilandu said what FDH Bank has done demonstrates that they are really a true friend and a serious partner that has invested in football.
He said when they won with Uganda they were there and now that flames have qualified for the Afcon they are still with them.
“They have made life easier for us as we are sourcing funds in readiness for the Afcon and we hope other partners will come in to our rescue,” he said.
Nyailandu said FDH Bank has gone an extra mile by introducing the flames flag saying that this is corporate patriotism and they are here to save the interest of Malawians.
He said FDH Bank is home grown Bank that truly deserves our support saying that anyone who was doubting for the flames participation in the Afcon should start now start packing things.
