Police in Mulanje district has over the weekend arrested 17 illegal immigrants from Mozambique.
Mulanje Police Publicist, Gresham Ngwira, has confirmed the development.
According to Ngwira, the suspects were arrested during the night of July 4-5, 2021 around the Muloza area.
Ngwira said most of them were found in rest houses and lodges but failed to produce documents allowing them to stay in Malawi.
Police have also arrested nine Malawians, including 24-year-old Chikumbutso Sailesi for various offenses, according to Ngwira.
All the suspects will appear in court soon.
