Zambia President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has declared April 28, the day Kenneth Kaunda the country’s founding father and first president was born as public holiday.
Lungu made the declaration 0n Wednesday, July 7 2021, in Lusaka during the burial ceremony of Kaunda.
“I, President of the Republic of Zambia now declares April 28, the birthday of Dr Kenneth Kaunda as a public holiday. One Zambia One Nation” Lungu said.
Kaunda, who was born on April 28, 1924, died on June 17, 2021 after battling pneumonia.
