In Zomba, 26 students have graduated from Bwalo Initiative Vocational Centre with certificates in plumbing, carpentry and joinery as well as tailoring and designing.
Bwalo Initiative, is  a local organization based in Zomba.
 Bwalo introduces these courses as one way of developing skills to reduce the high unemployment rate .
Bwalo Initiative’s Director of Programmes, Harry Phiri has said that it is inspiring that some of the graduates they produced in previous academic years are now working with reputable Organizations such as Southern Region Water Board and other construction companies.
Meanwhile, Zomba District Youth Officer, Kate Nyalweni Mwandira, while commending Bwalo Initiative’s idea, says it is worrisome that only 30 percent of the youth have been employed.
