Authorities in the country have express great concern that over 20 percent of food  grown in the country gets wasted during preparation time .
This was revealed when the FAO held UN Food Systems Summit Dialogue with communities in Nsanje and Chikwawa.
The dialogue comes ahead of the meeting of heads of state of UN members slated in September this year which will among other things discuss how to sustain accessibility of food.
FAO head of planning and programming George Mvula has said that there is need to manage food in a bid to sustain nutrients and prevent various forms of diseases.
According to  Shire Valley Agricultural Development Division Programs Manager, Taulayi Mulewa said the dialogue gives them an opportunity to contribute what the president will have when meeting other leaders during the food summit in September this year.
