The Senior Resident Magistrate court in Zomba has sentenced 18 year old Austin Jailosi, to 6 years imprisonment with hard labour for human trafficking.

During court proceedings, state prosecutor Counsel Louis Makiyi told the court that on September 09, 2020, Jailos hired Jeffrey  John  23, to drive him on his motorcycle to the agreed place.

Whilst on their way Jailosi branched to a certain man’s house where he offered Jeffrey for sale.

Due to shock with the offer the man informed the community about the issue who arrested Jailosi and brought him to Police.

Asked before court on July, 08, 2021 Jailosi pleaded guilty to the charge.

In his submission Makiyi prayed for a stiff sentence saying the case is of serious in nature.

Jailosi pleaded for court leniency saying he is a first offender and said ‘it was the devil who came into him”

Passing sentence Senior Resident Magistrate Lissa Chingoli concurred with the state and sentenced Jailosi to 6 years imprisonment with hard labour.

Jailosi comes from Misoya village, traditional authority Liwonde in Machinga district.
