Leader of the House, Richard Chimwendo has condemned opposition members of parliament who walked out during the committee stage of controversial employment amendment act.
According to Chimwendo, all members need to be in the house so that they should successfully contribute on behalf of their constituents.
He said the Tonse Alliance is here to protect Malawians and not to cause harm like other past administrations.
Chimwendo has also reaffirmed government’s commitment to make sure that everyone pays tax without considering their status.
According to Chimwendo, the bill of employment amendment will help to increase productivity rather than people holding strikes putting other at risk.
The highly charged leader of the house has also described the remarks by leader of opposition that Malawians are suffering as ‘unfortunate’ because DPP stayed in government for many years but they failed to assist the citizens.
Chimwendo said DPP should not claim to have supported Vuwa Kaunda as he campaigned for himself against Tonse Alliance.
He has since branded Kaunda as a hero from Nkhatabay Central.
In her closing remarks speaker of the house Catherine Gotan Hara has threatened to start naming and shaming members of parliament that continuously abscond the sitting.
