At least 14 people have been arrested in Dowa for allegedly failing to comply with Coronavirus Preventive measures.

Dowa Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Gladson M’bumpha has confirmed of the development.

According to M’bumpha, the suspects were arrested for allegedly operating drinking joints beyond recommended hours and not wearing face masks.

The suspects whose ages range from 21 to 35 were arrested at Dowa Turn Off, Dzaleka Refugee Camp and Dowa Boma when police officers were conducting enforcement of Covid-19 rules and regulations.

Malawi has imposed new measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus following the third wave the country is currently experiencing.
