The body of Martha Chikuni who was Head of Media Marketing at State House has been laid to rest at her home village at Bvumbwe in Thyolo.
Chikuni died on Friday after a short illness at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre.
Speaking on behalf of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the funeral Reverend Brian Kamwendo, Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs said the President is deeply shocked with Chikuni’s untimely death.
He described Chikuni as a Malawian who dedicated her life to the improvement of other people’s lives in the country.
Speaking on behalf of Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima and the UTM family, Minister of Energy, Newton Kambala, said Chikuni was one of the few who fought hard against the oppression of the DPP regime, and it is sad to lose her a year after Tonse Administration was ushered into power.
Maxwell Thyolera speaking on behalf of the Malawi Congress Party said Martha will be missed because of her zeal to serve Malawi.
State House representatives, chiefs, her family relations and those who spoke at the ceremony, said Martha was a charming lady who was always available to make a difference in serving others.
Family sources said the deceased died of stomach complications.
She was born in January 1974.
