Police in Chiradzulu are keeping in custody a 35-year-old man for allegedly being found in possession of cannabis, otherwise known as chamba.

Chiradzulu Police Public Relations Officer, Innocent Moses, identified the suspect as Kennedy Matabwa of Namathika Village, Traditional Authority Ntchema in Chiradzulu District.

He said Matabwa was arrested following intelligence gathered by the law enforcers.

Upon arriving at his village, Police conducted a search in his house where they discovered the said contraband.

Meanwhile, the hemp has been taken to Bvumbwe Research Station for verification.

The suspect will appear in court soon to answer a charge of being found in possession of Cannabis Sativa without supporting documents.
