The Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in Blantyre is this morning hearing an application by murder convict Misozi Chanthunya for the higher court to overturn his life sentence conviction on the grounds that he was jailed based on bogus call logs.

Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Steven Kayuni, has told a seven-member panel of judges of the #Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in Blantyre to dismiss in its entirety, an application by murder convict Misozi Chanthunya, who wants the higher court to overturn his conviction.

Kayuni has argued that evidence presented in the lower court is clear that the convict committed the offence.

Chanthunya was jailed in September last year by the High Court in Zomba for allegedly killing his 25-year-old Zimbabwean girlfriend Linda Gasa in August 2010.

He is currently serving a life imprisonment with hard labour.
