The Supreme Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal application by Misozi Chanthunya who was convicted to life imprisonment.

Chanthunya was slapped a life imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend, Linda Gasa, in 2010.

But after the ruling Chanthunya through his lawyer appealed the ruling and the case was scheduled for today in Blantyre.

Justice of Appeal, Lovemore Chikopa, who read a brief ruling on behalf of the seven-member panel of judges, says the High Court ruling is therefore maintained.

Chanthunya wanted the Supreme Court to overturn his life sentence conviction on the grounds that he was jailed based on bogus call logs.

The development means Chanthunya will be in jail for the rest of his life.
