High Court in Lilongwe has ordered former executive member of the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Reverend Macdonald Sembereka to apologize to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament Ben Phiri.

Sembereka, named Phiri to have been involved in the petrol bombing of the then HRDC chairperson Timothy Mtambo house in 2019.

The court has also slapped the new appointed diplomat to pay legal costs which are amounting to K800, 000.

Reacting to the court order, Sembereka has said he will abide by the court order as a way of ensuring that the issue is sorted out.

Sembereka has until July 22, 2020 to make the apology.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to July 22, 2020.
