Police in Ntcheu District have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly defiling his three-year-old biological daughter.
Ntcheu police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu has confirmed the development while identifying the suspect as Patrick Sakaza.
It is alleged that Sakaza committed the offense on July 18 2021 at Nyasa Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chakhumbira in the district.
According to Chigalu, the mother of the victim realized what had happened after discovering sperms on the victim’s private parts.
Chigalu says the mother took the victim to Lizulu Police Unit where they were referred to Lizulu Health Centre.
“Medical examination at the health facility confirmed that the victim was indeed defiled. Sakaza, who is in police custody, has since admitted to having defiled his daughter,” he said.
The suspect has since been charged with defilement, contravening section138 of the penal code.
This comes at a time when the district has registered 40 defilement cases in the past six months, which is slightly higher than 30 defilement cases registered same period last year.
