The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has postponed the interview it was due to conduct with former President Peter Mutharika over the alleged abuse of the President’s Taxpayer Identification Number.
ACB Public Relations Officer Egritta Ndala has confirmed the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
The postponement follows Mutharika’s lawyers request to for more time to study the documents the bureau has given the former president.
Samuel Tembenu, a lawyer for the former president has confirmed the postponement saying the interview will be conducted at a later date.
According to Ndala, the interview has been shifted to July 27, 2021.
The interview will be conducted virtually as part of observing Covid-19 preventive measures.
