A man in Salima has been slapped with a 17-year-jail term for defiling a girl aged 13.
Farison Alfred, 29, defiled the girl on May 8, 2021 at Chilanga village in the area of Senior Chief Khombedza in the district.
The girl had lost her way to a sister’s home when she met and sought help from Alfred who took advantage, directing the girl to a cemetery the crime was committed.
In litigation, Alfred sought leniency on the basis he was a first offender and a family man but Senior Resident Magistrate, Joana Kwatiwani, proceeded to hand him a 17-year-stay in jail.
