Well-known lawyer Khumbo Soko has hailed the fired Attorney General (AG) Chikosa Sulungwe.
President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday fired Sulungwe for unknown reason.
Solicitor General and Secretary for Justice, Reyneck Matemba confirmed of the exit of the Attorney General.
“I can confirm that the Ministry has been formally notified and the AG has also bid goodbye to officers,” said Matemba.
But the firing of Sulungwe has attracted mixed reactions with many applauding him for serving the country well.
Writing on his official facebook page Soko described Sulungwe as man who has the welfare of Malawians at heart.
“A legal advisor is like a physician. He must apply his mind to the facts before him and give his best opinion as he sees it: the diagnosis and the prescription.
“Sadly, clients sometimes mistake advice they don’t like for advice that is wrong. The duty of counsel is to tell the client what he needs to hear. Not what the client WANTS to hear,” wrote Soko.
Meanwhile Chakwera is yet to give reasons for Sulungwe’s firing.
