Information reaching this publication indicates that Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President Enock Chihana has been earmarked to be President Chakwera’s runningmate in the forthcoming 2025 general election.
Inside sources have confirmed of the development, saying Chihana is currently being groomed for the post.
The sources further said that the State through Malawi Congress Party (MCP) inner circles is funding all activities of Chihana and that of AFORD ahead of the polls.
Speaking in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) Chihana trashed the assertions.
But Chihana hinted that each of the 9 coalition leaders that form TONSE is free to run for presidency as the coalition is just a 5-year electoral contract.
Malawi Congress Party Publicist, Reverend Maurice Munthali, and Chihana have also denied reports that MCP is funding AFORD which of late has been displaying its newly found fortune.
AFORD is currently on a re-building exercise with Chihana on the ground wooing Malawians especially from the North to rally behind the party.
