Hearing of the case in which former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor, Dalitso Kabambe, former Reserve Bank of Malawi Deputy Governor, Henry Mathanga and two others are accused of abuse of office when they payed a compensation of K4.3 billion to FDH Bank without prior approval of board continues at the Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Court today.

Kabambe, a Democratic Progressive Party presidential hopeful, was arrested on June 28 before being given bail two days later.

The four are in court to take plea.

Director of Public Prosecutions, Steven Kayuni, says the State is asking the court for 30 days time to wrap up investigations.

He has asked the court to give the State another 14 days after wrapping up the investigations to make disclosures in the case.

He says since the release of the RBM Forensic Audit Report, a committee of investigators comprising Fiscal Police, ACB and Financial Intelligence Authority have been jointly investigating the matter.

He says some of the people who were to be interviewed were in isolation due to Covid-19.
