Police in Mulanje have arrested a 27-year-old man, Smart Beula for defiling his 15 – year old step daughter.
According to the victim’s mother, on April 25 this year she sent her daughter to a maize mill.
As the girl started off while the mother went to fetch water, Beula asked that he should accompany her.
While on the way, he allegedly defiled the girl within a nearby bush.
As they came out of the bush, they were met by a passer-by who tipped the victim’s mother.
Officers at Naphungo Police Unit arrested Beula following a complaint.
The suspect, from Matewere Village, Traditional Authority Juma in Mulanje, is expected to appear in court today to answer defilement charges contrary to section 138 of the Penal Code.,
