Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has expressed shock over the death of Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC) acting controller of programmes (TV) Sweeney Chinkango.

Chinkango, a gospel musician died of COVID-19 this morning at Adventist Hospital in Blantyre.

Writing on his official facebook page, Nankhumwa expressed shock over the untimely death of Chinkango.

“One of a few finest multi talented radio and TV producers gone.

“As usual we have more questions than answers.Who are we to question the will of God?,” wrote Nankhumwa.

He added: “Till we meet again in Gods glory.

“Rest well Sweeny.”

On his part MBC Director General George Kasakula described Chinkango as a royal person.

“He was a good man to everyone. He was one of the first crop of employees for then Television Malawi (TVM) and he never left. He was very loyal and everybody’s friend,” said Kasakula.

Funeral details are still sketchy at the moment.
