Sheriffs in Mzuzu have impounded 28 refrigerators from Sana superstore at Northgate mall in Mzuzu for failure to pay a total of 4 million Kwacha to some two residents who dragged it to court.
It has however been established that the seized property is worth 5 million kwacha.
The residents sued the store after being sold expired traditional cakes (Zigumu) worth K400 and went ahead to castigate the women when they tried to lodge a complaint.
Lawyer representing the chain store, Maclean Mkandawire has refused to comment on the matter saying the case is still under litigation.
But one of the plaintiffs, Brenda Msuku who is supposed to get K 2million says she expects the company to honour the court order to save as a lesson to traders who sell expired goods and food stuffs.
