Kenya: Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on the wee hours of Thursday morning rescued a first-year university student who was being gang-raped inside a hotel room.
In a statement by the DCI boss George Kinoti, Biron Orwa, 25 and Samwel Mulama, 22, were caught in the act and the lady was found intoxicated and only lying helplessly at Diani Apartments in Kwa Vonza market Kitui County.
It has emerged that the duo, used stupefying drugs on the lady at a bar known as Monte Christo before she was dragged to the hotel room.
“Detectives have established that the first-year student had walked into the bar earlier in the day accompanied by her boyfriend and the two suspects. Her boyfriend is known to the suspects,” a statement by Kinoti read in part.
In the process, the two suspects ordered rounds and rounds of alcohol for the boyfriend which left him helpless.
The boyfriend unable to comprehend what was happening left his girlfriend in the hands of the duo who had a completely different plan.
“Orwa and Mulama then seized the opportunity and dragged the victim to the room where they inhumanly raped her in turns,” he said.
According to Kinoti, police got a tip-off from members of the public that two men had been spotted drugging the lady into a room as she was so drunk and could not support herself.
The other victim was cornered at the same bar where he had gone to pick belongings of the girl which include her shoes and part of her clothes.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at Kitui General hospital.
Police said that the two suspects also underwent medical examination and will be arraigned on Friday, July 30.
