Chakwera fires Pastor Martin Thom for smuggling a bill to Parliament

President Lazarus Chakwera has terminated the contract of one of his advisors, Martin Thom, over his alleged involvement in the smuggling of Loans Authorisation Bill to Parliament.

State House spokesperson, Sean Kampondeni, has confirmed the development.

Pastor Thom has been arrested together with Acting Director of Debt and Aid at Ministry of Finance, Nations Msowoya.

The two are currently being kept at Lilongwe Police Station, according to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera.

“The two suspects are in custody at Lilongwe Police Station. Police will give more details later regarding the arrest,” said Kadadzera.
