A 32-year-old man in Kenya has confessed to police that he sold his lover’s Ksh5.7 million ( K37 Million) posh car after they separated.

Paul Kihika Wangari told the investigating officer that he sold the Prado Land Cruiser after they disagreed with the lover while in Shanzu Mombasa renovating her coastal residence.

Paul, who was arraigned before Milimani Chief Magistrate, told the court that the complainant was his girlfriend they had a disagreement.

“Did you tell the police what you’re telling me?” Asked the magistrate, in response Paul answered: “Yes I told the police but did not believe me.”

Particulars of the offence are that between February 5, 2021 and April 3, 2021 at Nairobi county he stole a motor vehicle registration number KCF 656X make Prado Land Cruiser valued at Ksh5.7 million property of Hellen Akinyi Omiti.

In his police statement, the accused confided that he met Akinyi at a bar on Mombasa Road in 2019 and started a relationship.

He confessed at using her motor vehicles since they were in a relationship and in February 2021, Akinyi sent him to supervise the renovation of her Shanzu house in Mombasa.

“I took her motor vehicle as usual which she fueled for me, and sent me Ksh80, 000 to carry out repairs of the car while in Mombasa,” Paul said in his statement.

While in Mombasa, they argued over the phone and Kihika decided to sell the car to get money to solve personal problems he was facing.

“I did not consult her before I disposed off the car,” he added.
