The National Anti-Corruption Alliance has commended President Lazarus Chakwera for firing Newton Kambala as Minister of Energy following his involvement in the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) scandal.
On Monday, Kambala was arrested along with Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) president Enoch Chihana and Chakwera’s aide Chris Chaima Banda for influencing awards of contracts at NOCMA.
The trio spent two day in police custody before being released on bail on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Chakwera has also fired his aide, Chaima.
