Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South on Thursday afternoon visited Centre for Democracy and Economic Development (CDEDI) Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa at the Area 3 Police Station in Lilongwe.

Namiwa together with 11 other CDEDI members were arrested on Wednesday at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe for allegedly holding illegal vigil.

Speaking after visiting Namiwa, Nankhumwa denounced the arrested saying such arrests has no space in the democratic dispensation.

Nankhumwa has since asked the law enforcers to release Namiwa.

Namiwa is yet to appear in court for formal charges.
