Main Competitor of Zambian President Edgar Lungu, Hakainde Hichilema has spoken for the first time after the country went to polls on Thursday, August 12, 2021.

Hichilema who stood on the ticket of United Party for National Development (UPND) has said the data that is coming in is extremely positive.

“Good morning Zambia! The data coming in is extremely positive and the will of the people is clear,” wrote Hichilema on his official Facebook page.

However, he was quick to caution the people of Zambia to be alert.

According to Hichilema, when people are going out of government they panic and resort to desperate measures, directly responding to Lungu’s move to deploy soldiers in some part of the country believed to be hotspots of violence.

He therefore asked people of Zambia to stay focused and calm assuring them that their vote will be protected.
