Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Eisenhower Mkaka on Friday on behalf of Malawi took over the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Council of Ministers.

Mkaka has taken over from Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dlhovo who has led the Council for the past year.

While accepting the leadership, Mkaka said he takes over at a time the region and entire world is reeling with the effects of Covid-19 currently ravaging economies, hence he told the Council, he will rely on the member states’ support.
